Razor-qt logoThe Razor-qt team announced the release of version 0.5.0 which includes several improvements and new features. Razor-qt is a lightweight desktop environment based, as its name says on Qt. Its goal is to be simple and fast. Although Razor-qt is a young project it contains the key features of a DE such as Panel, Desktop, Application launcher, Settings center and Sessions. For the time being it lacks a Window manager. However you can use Openbox or KWin for example.

The most noticeable changes are the following:

  • New Appearance GUI for configuring themes
  • Several new plugins for added functionality
  • Many bug fixes resulting in better performance
  • New Notification daemon

And here are a few screenshots of Razor-qt.
