Today Mark Shuttleworth, revealed an Ubuntu powered phone. Ubuntu Phone OS has the look and feel we are used to and it offers more screen space for your apps. It has a welcome screen, not a lock screen, with edge-to-edge experience. Its apps are designed so that they can be controlled via a voice HUD.
Moreover Ubuntu Phone OS comes with the same technology available in Ubuntu for Android: when docked, the phone turns into a full Ubuntu desktop.
Ubuntu phones aren’t yet available for purchase. Plans are to be released before the end of 2013.
You can see Ubuntu for phones demonstrated at the Ubuntu booth at CES next week and at MWC in Barcelona in February.
Here is the video from Shuttleworth's presentation in London and some images from the new Ubuntu Phone OS.
