Ubuntu logoJust a few hours ago Canonical unveiled a new tablet running Ubuntu touch - the same OS running on Ubuntu phones. It will have multi user support and multitasking capabilities as well. Downloads for the Google Nexus 7 and Google Nexus 10 will become available along with Ubuntu Phone images on February 21st. Here is a screenshot of the new tablet and a couple of videos explaining its main features.

Yesterday Canonical released a little app which helps developers install Ubuntu on Nexus 7 with a single click. Of course the boot loader of Nexus 7 has to be unlocked first. A wiki page has been created on how to install Ubuntu 12.10 on the Nexus 7Of course there are still many known issues and bugs open. Rotation, bluetooth and web camera are not working and of course there is no way to right click!

ubuntuMark Shuttleworth while announcing the name of Ubuntu 13.04 asked the developers who will be attending next weeks Ubuntu Developer Summit in Copenhagen  Denmark, to bring along their Nexus 7′s. Commercial Engineering Director at Canonical, Victor Palau, has posted a short video of Ubuntu running on a Nexus 7 already.
