google drive logoAfter months of rumors Google has finaly realised Google Drive, it's cloud storage service. Google Drive is offering 5GB of free web space to anyone with a Google account. Drive is accessible from any web browser at or one of the dedicated clients it provides for Windows, Mac and Android. An iOS app and a Linux client are to follow in the coming weeks. In my Android mobile phone Google Docs was replaced by Google Drive application. However for the time being I can't login into my Drive.

With Google Drive you can access your files from everywhere, just like DropBox and Box. Moreover you can collaborate with your friends and of course you can easilly search through your files. An interesting feature is the Optical Character Recognition (OCR). With Drive you can recognize text in scanned documents and images! Of course if you need more space you can upgrade to 25GB for 2.49 per month. The maximum file size you can upload is 10GB!

Here is a video introducing Google Drive.

And here is a comparison chart I found in PCWorld comparing the top cloud storage services, Drive, SkyDrive DropBox, Box and SugarSync (I haven't heard of the last one before).

Cloud services comparison chart

Are you using and cloud storage service? Are you going to use Google Drive?
