In Ubuntu 12.10 Quantal Quetzal when you make a search in dash Amazon results pop out in the results. This is quite annoying for many users. If you want to disable Amazon search results showing up in dash there are a couple of ways to do it. Here are the ads I am talking about.
The first solution is to turn off the ads in Ubuntu's settings. Click on the Ubuntu button at left, search for Privacy and then turn off "Include online search results".
The second solution is to completely remove the Amazon shopping lens. Just open a terminal and type:
sudo apt-get remove unity-lens-shopping
Log out and log back in. No more Amazon results in your searches!
If you like the Amazon seach results but you don't want them appear in any search you make through a Dash there is a dedicated Amazon Shopping Lens which you can install.
