Well as many as your CPU and RAM can handle. Now you can explore Ubuntu and Linux and if you like it why not install it natively on your computer!Below you can see Ubuntu Linux running on Windows.

sudo bash ./VBoxLinuxAdditions-x86.run didn't work in Ubuntu 8.10? If so, I should change it.

Screen resolution works.
If you ever revise this, maybe add something about getting the internet connection to work.

But network is working fine! Have you enabled the Network Adapter from Settings -> Network? It's the 6th image in Setting up our Virtual Machine II
