The Unity Movie Lens can be used to search for movies in Ubuntu's Unity. It uses the themoviedb.org API (unfortunately IMDB doesn't have an API) and it supports many languages. This means that the movie description will be displayed in your language if that is available. To install Unity Movie Lens in Ubuntu 12.10 Quantal Quetzal open a terminal and type:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:atareao/lenses
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install unity-lens-movies
Log out and log back in. Now open dash, select the Movie Lens and search for a movie.
If you click on an item your browser will open and will take you to the movies page in themoviedb.org. If you right click on an item a movie description will appear along with along with the movie cover, rating, genre and artists.
Moreover there is a Play trailer button which will open the movie's trailer in Totem.
