I am sure you have some people in your Google+ circles which post too much! Or maybe you have a circle from which you don't want to receive status updates and new posts. Here is how to completely mute that circle without having to delete it.
From your profile's home screen press the More button and select the circle you want to mute. For example I've chosen the circle Work.
Afterwards use the slider next to the menus and drag it to the left side. Now you will see nothing from this circle in your home screen!
