After downloading and installing it, insert the DVD you want to rip in your DVD-Rom drive and fire AutoGordianKnot.
Click the “Browse” button next to “Input File”. Enter your DVD drive directory and then double-click on the “VIDEO_TS” file. Inside, you will see a number of files with the extension “.ifo”. Double click on the one with the largest size.
Usually, you will see a message stating that AutoGordianKnot has found a lot of files. These files are the credits, menus and extras of your DVD. To rip only the main movie, click on the drop-down menu and select the file with the longest duration
Next, click the “Browse” button next to “Output File”, enter a name for the file that will be created and choose where to save it.
Under “Audio tracks”, select the language you want and then do the same with the “Subtitle tracks”
Now you must choose the size of your video. As a rule of thumb, the bigger the file, the better the quality. You can either choose a pre-defined size (if you want for example to copy the movie to a cd), choose a size you want (custom) or enter a percentage for the target quality of the movie. Generally, for movies up to 120 minutes, a number around 700-800 mb yields very good results, however for longer ones you may want to choose up to 1.3 gb. Of course, you can choose any size you want but there is little point in spending more than 1,5 gb.
Finally, press “add job” to add it to the job queue, tick “shutdown when done” if you want your pc to shut down automatically when the ripping is over and hit “Start”!
