Go Keyboard (free)
Go Keyboard is from the Go Dev Team that brought us Go SMS, Go Weather, Go Contacts, and so on. The keyboard itself is pretty plain with decent predictions and supports many different languages and different layouts as well.

Swype (beta)
Swype is a faster and easier way to input text on any touch screen. With one continuous finger or stylus motion across the screen keyboard you are able to input words faster and easier than other data input methods - at over 40 words per minute. Its prediction is also very good.
Swiftkey X (free and paid)
SwiftKey X Keyboard is the smartest keyboard on Android, using artificial intelligence to help predict your next word as you type. This is what the devolopers say about their application! Swiftkey uses data from your Facebook, Twitter and Gmail, as well as your sent SMS messages in order to be able to predict what you would like to type.

Hacker's Keyboard (free)
This is a full 5-row keyboard including arrow and Esc/Ctrl keys, intended for tablets. If you are missing the key layout you're used to from your computer this keyboard is for you. It has separate number keys, punctuation in the usual places, and arrow keys. It is based on the AOSP Gingerbread soft keyboard, so it supports multitouch for the modifier keys.
This keyboard is especially useful if you use ConnectBot for SSH access. It provides working Tab/Ctrl/Esc keys, and the arrow keys are essential for devices such as the Xoom tablet or Nexus S that don't have a trackball or D-Pad.

HTC_IME Soft Keyboard (free)
This keyboard has derived from the HTC build of the Android keyboard, HTC_IME has since been improved for again and again with supports for a ton of features. You can do T9 style and full keyboard. It also does voice input! Beware it is an unofficial app, NOT in Android Market, so not guaranteed to run on your phone. You can download it from the XDA developers forum.

Thumb Keyboard (free)
Thumb Keyboard gives you larger keys by splitting the keyboard into two halves, one higher than the other, so you can fit bigger keys on screens without taking up too much space. It works quite well. It has word prediction, voice input and many customization options. You can configure a variety of factors such as color scheme, different keyboard layout for portrait vs. landscape modes, and much more.
