Linux Books

Of course the Internet along with the help of Google is a great source of information. You can answer almost any question you have about Linux and find many tutorials, guides and help. However many people prefer reading this information on a printed book accesssible even when they are not online or don't have a computer in front of them. I've received many e-mails asking me to propose them a few good books regarding Linux commands, administration and for specific distributions such as Ubuntu, Fedora etc. So, I've searched for a few good books. Here they are. Happy reading!

cyanogenmod logoIf you own a rooted Android phone most probably you will have heard about CyanogenMod. CyanogenMod is a free, community built distribution of Android 2.3.x which greatly extends the capabilities of your phone. In other words it's a custom ROM for your mobile phone. Among its many features is its ability to use custom themes on your phone simply by installing APKs and using the T-Mobile theme engine. Here I will show you 7 beautiful themes for CM7.

The following themes are in APK format. To install and apply a theme:

  • Download and transfer its APK to the SD card and install it. You will, of course, need to enable installation of non-Market applications (check Settings > Applications > Unknown Sources).
  • Launch Theme Chooser.
  • Swipe left or right across the screen to select the theme you just installed.
  • Tap apply and reboot (reboot is required to be able to view the changes to the notification power widget).

And here is the list.
