In this guide I will describe you how to rip a DVD and also merge/trim/crop/effect its video files using Daniusoft DVD Ripper. Daniusoft DVD Ripper supports conversion to iPod, Apple TV, PSP, YouTube, Creative Zen Player, iRiver, Xvid, Zune, avi, wmv, 3gp, 3g2, mov, mpg, mp4, ac3, vob, wav and a few other formats.
Download Daniusoft DVD Ripper and install it. This is the main program window. Insert your DVD disk into your dvd-rom and click on the 'Load DVD' (1) button.
Simple Conversions
The DVD titles will appear in the main window (1). If you don't want to rip the whole DVD you can select each title, click the play button (2) and watch the selected title in the preview window. From the 'Subtitle' drop box (3) select your prefered subtitles and from the 'Audio' (4) drop box select the dvd audio you want to keep. Next select the 'Format' (5) into which you want to rip your movie. Finally select an 'Ouput' (6) directory. Be sure it has enough free space for your movie.
If you want to use the default settings just click 'Start' button (1) and the conversion will begin. However you can click the 'Settings' button (2) to access a few more settings.
Here you can change Video Resolution, Frame Rate, Bit Rate as well as Audio Sample Rate, Encoder, Channels and Bit Rate.
When you are ready click the 'Start' button and the rip will begin.
Now let's see some extra capabilities of this program.
Merge
Each title may consist of several chapters. You might want to keep only some of this chapters as a single video clip. Select the wanted chapters from the main window (1), tick 'Merge into one file' (2) and click 'Start' (3).
Trim
You can also trim a selected chapter. After you select it from the list click the 'Trim' button. Here you can select the Start (1) and End (2) time of the video file you want to convert. Click the 'Ok' button when you have make your adjustments and then again the 'Start' button in the main program screen.
Crop
If you click on the 'Crop' button you can adjust your movie's aspect ratio to Full Screen, 16:9, 4:3 and you can also cut off the black edges you don't want to keep.
Effects
With the 'Effect' button you can access some extra effects that you can add in your clip. You can change Brightness, Contrast, Saturation, adjust the volume level and add some special effects such as Gray, Emboss, Negative, Old film.
