Linux Books

Of course the Internet along with the help of Google is a great source of information. You can answer almost any question you have about Linux and find many tutorials, guides and help. However many people prefer reading this information on a printed book accesssible even when they are not online or don't have a computer in front of them. I've received many e-mails asking me to propose them a few good books regarding Linux commands, administration and for specific distributions such as Ubuntu, Fedora etc. So, I've searched for a few good books. Here they are. Happy reading!

You can download a trial version of DVDFabPlatinum here or you can buy DVDFab Platinum here . There is also a light version, DVDFab Gold. You can download a trial version of DVDFab Gold here or you can buy DVDFab Gold here> . If you want to test it first you can download a trial version here. Put your DVD in the dvd rom tray, run DVDFab and let's get started!

Copy to Mobile

Choose the directory where the files will be stored (1). You may choose which part of the video to convert, use the preview window to check which one is the main movie if you don’t want to have any extras, introduction etc. (2), your preferable audio (3) and subtitle (4) languages. In this screen choose the video type that is supported from your mobile (1), mp4 usually will be ok, as well as the ‘Frame Resolution’ (2). 176x128 shoud be ok. You may play with the rest options. In the Size(MB) (3) box you can see how much space the ripped video will need. Less bitrate means smaller file but also worst quality. When you are done press 'Ok'.

Now press ‘Start’ and the rip will begin.

When the whole procedure is completed click on ‘Finish’.

You will find the video file in your target directory under a folder named generic. Copy the video file to your mobile and you are ready!

Choosing the largest title to process will not always process the main movie: example, "A Good Year". Use the preview window to make sure you have selected correctly.

I'm trying to figure out which frame resolution is best for my PSP if the DVD I'm ripping is 16:9. When I use the default 320 x 240 I have to magnify the movie on my PSP which of course is less quality. Is there a screen size that works better for PSP?

I made a little search and I found that Zen supports Xvid videos. Therefore if you follow the Copy to Mobile procedure and you select generic.avi.xvid.mp3 you should be ok. You can always download the trial version from the links above and test it yourself.
