Setting up our Virtual Machine II

Now return to the main window of VirtualBox. Here you will find an Ubuntu machine Powered Off along with Details about its settings. Click on the Settings button to make a few changes.



In General Settings - Basic tab maximize your Video Memory Size. Here I have set it to 128MB (1).

In General Settings - Advanced tab define the boot device order. Set CD/DVD-ROM first, Hard Disk second and Floppy third (1). Also enable VT-x/AMD-v (2) if your CPU supports visualization features. Finally enable PAE/NX (3).

In Hard Disk Settings enable SATA Controller if you have SATA a hard disk.

In CD/DVD-ROM Settings check Mount CD/DVD Drive (1) and click the yellow folder (2) to load the ISO file you have previously downloaded.

A Virtual Disk Manager window will pop-up. Click on the Add button (1) and browse to where you have Ubuntu ISO image file. The ISO should then appear in the list below (2). Click Select to exit from here.



In Audio Settings check Enable Audio (1) and select Windows Direct Sound as Host Audio Driver (2).

In Network Settings select your Network Adapter Type. Intel PRo/1000MT should be Ok (1).

In USB Settings enable USB Controller and USB 2.0 Controller if you have one.

Click the OK button and we are ready.
