Fedora 10 is scheduled to be released on the 25th of this November. Of course I will publish a Fedora 10 Installation Guide as I did with all previous Fedora versions since Fedora Core 6.

However I would like to hear your opinions and thoughts of what changes you would like to see in this guide, what you would like me to add or remove etc.

So drop me a line here! Cheesy

Hello,

Great intention! I am sure the comming guide will be as great as your previous ones!

I'm waiting for the 25/11/2008 impaitently. I tried to update via rawhide repo and that caused problems with nvidia and some other devices but got my hp printer working though. For now I switched back and enjoing just test updates.

As for opinions and thoughts:
1. I guess we'll need the Upgrade code from 9 to 10  for sure  Smiley
2. I can not find any usefull guide for installing/uninstalling some usefull software: i.e. Nerolinux, VMware workstation etc. Also can not get rid from "operapluginwrapper" resourse "eating" while running Opera. I use K3b, Qemu(dead slow!) and Firefox as well but I got used to Nero, Vmware and Opera in mswin.
So conclusion: can we have a guide for some usefull software wich can not usually be find in repos?

Good luck and thank you very much for the job you are doing for supporting in creating the m$free world  Smiley
regards,
Old Uncle

Hey old.unlce. I am also waiting for the release date of Fedora 10!

1. Sure there will be an Upgrade from Fedora 9 to Fedora 10 part.

2. When it comes to Linux I prefer using always free software and Open Source as well. For virtualization I am using VirtualBox. You can give it a try! I have published a guide on Installing Linux on Windows but the process is almost the same for the other way round. k3b is also a great program I think. Smiley

However I might create a guide for VMWare in the future.

I was thinking whether it's good to publish screenshots in the guide just like i did with Fedora 10 or just commands.

I have been an avid user of Fedora ever since Core 3. However , I was really dissapointed with Fedora 9. Everytime I tried to update it , it kept crashing. I also had to change the permission of the .kde folder, which i never had to b4. So I've skipped Fedora and am eagerly awaiting Fedora 10. Does'nt seem that long ago I found Fedora Core 3.

Heh, I've also been using Fedora since Fedora Core 3. However my first Linux distribution was Red Hat 7.1 or 7.2? Something like that.

In my opinion Fedora 9 shipping with KDE4.0 and xorg 1.5 caused problems to a lot of people who got discouraged. In general I believe that Fedora is a great distro if you want something fast and easy.

The thing that "disappointed" me and I am now using ArchLinux as my main OS is that Fedora's KDE packages don't come in separate, smaller parts. By that I mean it would be better if they broke kdegraphics to kdegraphics-kolourpaint, kdegraphics-ksnapshot etc. This way you could install only what you really want.

On the other hand Fedora is a Gnome based distribution and when I contacted some of its developers the answer was that they don't have enough KDE maintaners to make something like this. Sad

Anyway, Fedora 10 preview is released today and its solar theme looks great!
