That's really strange. :o Take a backup of install.php and delete it as well to see if this fixes your problem. - axel

I just installed Joomla yesterday, and I was messing around with it for a while, got it to look exactly how I wanted it, and now today I'm getting the message "PLEASE REMEMBER TO COMPLETELY
REMOVE THE INSTALLATION DIRECTORY.".....I've removed the directory since yesterday. Am I missing something? - Brian Sheridan

I just tried it myself under Fedora 9.

su -
yum install httpd mysql php
/sbin/service httpd restart
mkdir /var/www/html/joomla
cd /var/www/html/joomla
wget http://joomlacode.org/gf/download/frsrelease/8376/30992/Joomla_1.5.7-Stable-Full_Package.tar.gz
tar -xzf Joomla_1.5.7-Stable-Full_Package.tar.gz

And then open Firefox and type:
http://127.0.0.1/joomla

The installer should start. Just a notice. This guide refers to Joomla 1.0.x while here I use Joomla 1.5. So there should be some changes durings the install process.
